Jeju Island, the Oriental Hawaii in Korea

As the largest island in Korea, Jeju island is the typical volcanic island formed 1.2 million years ago. As a result of its isolated location and romantic tropical image, it is a paradise for honeymooners and tourists. Famous for its golf courses and beach resorts, Jeju island attracts many people especially those from Asia prefer to having holiday here every year.

Things must do in Jeju:

1. find the deep diving women

As rice won't grow on this wild, windy island, women from many years ago learned to dive in the deep sea for octopus, abalone, clams, squid and seaweed. Nowadays, these powerful sea-women (haenyo) who can dive 10-20 meters without any breathing apparatus, are renowned throughout the country. These women always dive for four hours everyday, and they are the richest person in the village.

2. try the seaweed and sea urchin soup

It is the traditional food in the island.

3. Visit the grandfather stone

There are many legends about these stones. But the most famous one is that the stones are built here to protect the sacred island. Therefore citizens in the Jeju island gave them the name, grandfather stones.
